He also added, “My liver and kidney’s collapsed on me. Needless to say it scared me straight. I finally realized I can’t drink anymore. If I have one drink the docs say I will die.”
Lavigne called up her ex and even took to Twitter, writing, “Spoke to @Sum41 Deryck today. I am so proud of him. He is family to me and always will be. #StayStrongDeryck.”
She also retweeted several fan tweets from the said hashtag. The Sum41 frontman is currently recovering well with the help of his fiancé, Jocelyn Aguilar.
He is also eager to write new music and start touring again. He said that he got back his passion for composing after the near-death experience.
