Marvel recently confirmed “Men In Black II” actress Rosario Dawson as a new “Daredevil” cast member. The most awaited show is set to run for 13 episodes on Netflix. It will premiere in 2015.
Dawson’s powerful work in “Cesar Chavez” and “Kids” helped her get the producers’ attention. According to Marvel, the “Seven Pounds” star “will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”
Although her character has not been specified yet, Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, assures that the actress’ role “is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
e also added: “Rosario Dawson is one [of] the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil.'” Including Dawson in the “Daredevil” cast list had already been part of the producer’s plans for awhile.
The “Daredevil” cast is composed of critically-acclaimed actors in television and film: “Boardwalk Empire’s” Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and “The Human Chameleon” Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
According to Marvel, this highly-anticipated “Daredevil” adaptation “follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.”
Executive producers and series showrunners Steven S. DeKnight (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Spartacus,” and “Angel”) and Drew Goddar (“Cabin in the Woods,” and “Lost,”) along with Joseph Loeb will be spearheading the new show.
Marvel is partnering with ABC Studios in producing “Daredevil” for Netflix.
