Floyd Mayweather news reveals the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world and his interest in fighting at the Wembley Stadium in England.
“Money” was reportedly “left stunned” after witnessing 80,000 people in attendance during the rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves a week ago.
Floyd Mayweather also believes that he can top the level of interest among English boxing fans once he fights in England.
“It’s been a goal to come to the UK and put on a spectacular event and the plan is to do just that,” Mayweather said in an interview with. “I love all my fans in the UK and I want to go there and give a good show at Wembley before I retire. I plan to come in the near future.”
Floyd Mayweather’s next fight is scheduled for September, but no official announcement about his next opponent has been made. British boxer Amir Khan’s name, however, has been shortlisted.
Khan, on the other hand, refused to sign the agreement for the bout since it is scheduled right around the time the Islam holiday of Ramadan also takes place. The boxer will be fasting for an entire month given his Muslim background.
But for Floyd Mayweather, it would not matter if Amir Khan would be next in line. He currently holds a record of 46-0, and for him, it will be unlikely for the British boxer to break his career-long winning streak.
“I respect Amir Khan as a professional and he’s supposed to believe in himself,” Mayweather said with his usual air of confidence. “But for me, 46 men have tried to beat me and 46 have failed. No one has the formula to beat me.”
“The Floyd Mayweather brand is globally recognized,” he added. “The warm welcome over there in UK is a good indicator of the magnitude of success a fight would have.”
