Giuliana And Bill’s Surrogate Had A Miscarriage; How Is The Couple Dealing With The Loss? Is The Couple Giving Up On Having Another Baby?
It is with sad news that E! stars Giuliana and Bill Rancic announce that their surrogate had a miscarriage.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Bill shared how they were trying to have another baby. Their struggle will be featured in the latest season of their show “Giuliana and Bill” on E!
“This whole season on we’ve been trying to have another baby. Unfortunately our surrogate Delphine, who we love very much, had a miscarriage. It’s something that we didn’t see coming. We were devastated.”
Bill shared that while they were optimistic about this pregnancy, they were also very mindful, and planned not announce any pregnancy news to the public just yet.
“She was about nine weeks pregnant. We were pretty close to getting into the safe zone. We experienced a miscarriage years ago when we were trying with Giuliana, so we had been keeping the pregnancy news tight to the vest.”
Years before they decided to have a surrogate bear their child, Bill and Giuliana tried to conceive on their own with the help of their doctors. However, after several failed in vitro treatments, and Giuliana’s breast cancer battle, the couple thought that turning to a surrogate would be the wiser decision.
Their surrogate, Delphine, gave birth to the couple’s first son Duke.
“Delphine is amazing. We hit the surrogate lottery when we met her. Obviously this was no fault of hers,” Bill shared.
“It’s a double sadness because we didn’t want her to feel bad. And Giuliana was rather distraught at first, but she’s tough. In times like this we rely on our faith. Once the tears went away we started to look towards the future.”
But, the couple is unfazed by the trial. Thanks to their son Duke, things get a little bit lighter.
As Bill shared, their 21 month old son is starting to become a hit among the ladies:
“He just walks up to ladies at the Coffee Bean and starts batting his eyelashes and smiling at them. It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“We’re fighters. Hopefully we’re going to have good news and Delphine will be on board one more time. We’ve had to battle it out and that’s something that we’re going to continue to do,” he added.
