“Outlander” season 2 release date has been pushed back while Golden Globe nominations for the series pour in.
While “Outlander” season 2 release date is scheduled sometime around March or April, 2016, the Golden Globe nominations for the series come as a sweet surprise for the die-hard fans. The drama’s executive producer Ronald Moore wrote on his official Twitter page in September that the release date of the series’ second season is not decided yet and it could be around March or April, according to Franchise Herald .
The 73rd Golden Globe award nominations that were announced on Thursday have reportedly surprised Moore as the “Outlander” season 1 has been nominated for awards not just in one category but three. The drama which is an adaptation of a famous novel series penned down by Diana Gabaldon is nominated in “Best Drama Series,” “Best Drama Actress” and “Best Supporting Actor” categories.
“I hadn’t really even registered that this was happening today so I wasn’t up early with everyone else,” Moore told The Wrap . “I was asleep and my phone just kept ringing and ringing and I just kept ignoring it,” he added.
The “Best Drama Actress” award nominee of the series is Caitriona Balfe and the “Best Supporting Actor” nominee is Tobias Menzies. However, one of the most anticipated “Outlander” casts to be on the nomination list, Sam Heughan was found missing already. The Scottish actor that played the Jamie Randall in the drama was on truly deserving end but wasn’t nominated for the award.
“He [Heughan] was a huge part of the success of the show. We’ve always thought of he, Cait, and Tobias as our big three,” Moore told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s just a very competitive year, a very tough field. I wish Sam was included, but in our hearts he absolutely is because he’s incredibly deserving,” he added.
