Henry Cavill Girlfriend Gina Carano’s rumoured return to MMA seems to give Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White a hard time. Carano’s association with the movie industry gave White and Co. a task to make an arrangement with the actress’ legal counsel so both sides can meet somewhere halfway. Since he has been teasing the return of the former Strikeforce star for several months now, SB Nation reported that White has to manage the inconvenience of dealing with “Hollywood lawyers” just to make it happen.
“Her lawyers and our lawyers are talking. It’s moving along. It should (happen). I mean this guy is a Hollywood lawyer and these guys are always a pain in the ass to deal with. The shit that he calls back and says everyday is literally comical,” White commented at the UFC 174 media scrum.
Reportedly, the “In The Blood” star hasn’t fought in almost five years, but her jiu-jitsu coach is confident that she has what it takes to be back in action if that’s what she wants to do. According to her trainer, Carano is back to working out, but not eying a UFC bout at the moment.
“She’s doing great. She trains well, but she has a lot of things to do, like interviews and movies,” says Laercio Fernandes, a black belt under Givanildo Santana and multiple-time jiu-jitsu champion who has been teaching Carano for a year in California. “I always tell her ‘no pressure, do what you want to do. When you feel in your heart, you’ll know if you want to fight or not’. She has a big heart,” Fernandes told the site MMA Fighting.
“She’s the type of person that loves martial arts,” he continued. “She respects the traditions and loves to be around. She trains because she loves it. There’s nothing set with the UFC or things like that,” he added.
Carano competed for the last time in a featherweight fight with Cris Cyborg for the Strikeforce title in 2009.
