Iggy Azalea Explains Lorde Diss On Twitter; ‘Fancy’ Is No. 1 Again

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea recently made a comment about Lorde’s Nirvana tribute, stating that it was “inappropriate” during her interview with Billboard Magazine.

Azalea made a couple tweets explaining herself on June 9.

“My opinion on the making of a touching musical tribute wasn’t meant as some back door way to take a dig at her or the performance she gave,” wrote the “Fancy” rapper, according to

Perez Hilton.

The model added, “Sorry if it came across that way, it’s not what I intended & I feel genuinely bad about it because I still think lorde is an awesome chick.”

Lorde has yet to respond to Iggy Azalea’s comment.

Azalea’s “Fancy” is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for its third consecutive week. Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” which features Iggy Azalea stands strong at No. 2.

“Fancy” has managed to maintain its Hot 100 status, despite its drop in sales and streaming for a second week, according to

The “Work” hitmaker has been gaining the respect of fellow artists, despite reportedly being called a “rubbish rapper” and a “racist.”

Melbourne rapper 360, who describes himself as the “dude who took the mix of pop and hip-hop to the masses in Australia,” shared his thoughts on the success of Iggy Azalea, according to the publication

Faster Louder.

“I’ve heard songs where I think she sounds dope, and I’ve heard others that I don’t like at all, but I actually have the utmost respect for her for chasing her dream and making it a reality. Regardless of whether you like her or don’t, she’s talented,” stated 360.

He continued, “Her belief and hard work has got her to where she is today. If you dislike a song and think it’s garbage and trash that’s fine, but millions of people disagree with you.”
