Which smartphone is the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit Apple’s iPhone 5 against the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to see which better and more user friendly.
In terms of design and display, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has a 4.3inch Super AMOLED screen that renders a resolution of only 540×960 pixels, while the iPhone 5 has a smaller screen of 4 inches, and has a LED-backlit IPS LCD that supports a higher resolution of 640×1136 pixels.
The Sasmung Galaxy S4 Mini’s dimensions are 124.6×61.3×8.9 mm and weighs 107 grams, while the iPhone 5 is 5 grams heavier, and slightly smaller measuring at 123.8×58.6×7.6 mm.
For the hardware and OS, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has a Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.7GHz dual core krait processor which can run very smoothly. The internal memory of the Samsung model is at 8GB, but user can expand it up to 64GB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 has a 1.3GHz dual core swift processor and Apple’s A6 chipset. There are three variants of unexpandable internal memories: 16, 32 and 64GB. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini runs on the Android Jelly Bean OS with a 1.5GB of RAM, while the iPhone 5 runs on Apple’s iOS 6, which is upgradeable to the iOS 7 and has only 1GB of RAM.
For battery usage and camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is equipped with a Li-Ion battery with the capacity of 1900mAh, which allows users to talk for up to 12 hours, on 3G, or to listen to music for 49 hours. The iPhone 5’s battery onthe other hand, is non-removable and its Li-Po has a lower capacity of 1440mAh, that allows users to talk for 8 hours, on 3G, or to listen to music for 40 hours.
Both smartphones have the same resolutions in ther primary cameras at 8MP and similar features of LED flash and autofocus. However, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has a better secondary camera which is 1.9MP, while the secondary camera on the iPhone 5 is at 1.2MP.
