Are you ready to hear the latest “Iron Man 4” rumors? We all know that Robert Downey Jr. has played a huge part in the success of the Marvel Studio film franchise because of his impressive performance as Tony Stark.
Many “Iron Man” fans believe that no other actor can take the role of the billionaire playboy turned superhero. However, there were rumors that Colin Farrell could become the next Iron Man.
The 38-year old actor came on top of Movie Pilot’s poll for the next Tony Stark. What Culture also chose Colin Farrell to star as Iron Man in the next sequel of “The Avengers”. The website said, “Farrell has a strong resemblance to Downey’s Stark, filling out a suit nicely and working a very similar hair style.”
They added, “He also proved in ‘In Bruges’ that he can spit out the rapid-fire quick-wit dialogue as good as anyone. Though it would be tough getting used to the intonations and inflections of a new ‘Iron Man’, if Marvel were going to make the best of it, they would cast Farrell.”
But before they cast the Irish actor, new “Iron Man 4” rumors came out that Robert Downey Jr. may return again as the iron-clad superhero. During an interview with director Jon Favreau, who worked with the actor in the first two “Iron Man” movies, shared his thoughts about whether Downey should star as Tony Stark again or not.
The 47-year old director said, “I think people would love to see Robert Downey continue the Iron Man character.” Favreau explained, “but he’s done it quite a bit now. I’ve had a few movies off, so it’s a lot easier for me to say that it should be done.”
Jon Favreau added, “I hope he continues doing it and, as long as he fits in that suit, there’s no reason he shouldn’t.” Downey’s fans believe so too and it would be awesome to see Favreau directing another “Iron Man” movie with him someday.
