Jason Momoa will most probably play Aquaman in the new “Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice” flick.
According to a report on HitFix, Warner Bros. hasn’t made that announcement officially yet, but director Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon.
Although there has been no official announcement on what kind of backstory this particular Aquaman character version will have, it can be assumed that DC will be going for the more modern version of the superhero given Momoa’s size.
The particular version is said to be a “buff king from Atlantis skeptical of humans” rather than the “traditional orange-suit wearing super hero.”
This claim was also backed up by a recent article published by Indiewire:
“He comes into the story due to the events of ‘Man Of Steel,’ and most specifically due to the damage that Zod’s World Engine did to the Indian Ocean. Momoa’s certainly a commanding physical presence (enough so that he’ll probably look like he could kick Superman’s ass, which may not be the point…), and with no ‘Aquaman’ movie yet announced, he should do fine with the supporting material here.”
Rumors about Momoa playing Aquaman began last year. But he was quick to deny the rumors when asked about the part. In an interview with IGN’s Roth Cornet in January, Momoa said, “It’s just rumors. I want to say something amazing, but I can’t comment on rumors. It’s flattering.”
“I’m not involved in it,” added Momoa.
DC and Jason Momoa fans will just have to wait for updates on this news.
“Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice” arrives in theaters May 6, 2016. Aside from Henry Cavill’s Superman, the movie will also introduce Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher.
