Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s divorce is finally official. E! News confirmed the Los Angeles County Superior Court signed off the paperwork this week, after almost three years.
The divorce was actually finalized, in all intents and purposes, in March but due to court backlog, the official decision was not entered into the system until now.
The “I’m Into You” Singer also requested to legally change her name from Jennifer Muniz (Marc Anthony’s real surname) back to Jennifer Lopez, according to E! News.
According to TMZ, the “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” singer was granted full custody of the couple’s children, six-year-old twins Max and Emme. Anthony will get seven days a month with the kids, granted that their nannies will be present with every visit. Neither singer will have to pay alimony or child support.
The “No Me Ames” singers announced their split in July 2011 after being married for seven years. They released a joint statement, saying, “This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”
Both parties also spoke about the divorce separately. Lopez disclosed in a Nightline interview in 2011 that “it wasn’t something sensationalistic happening.” She also added that “These things happen.” Nevertheless, the singer shared her optimism in finding her true love with Vanity Fair in 2013.
espite the divorce, Lopez and Anthony still maintains a cordial relationship. Lopez reportedly kept in touch with the “I Need To Know” singer, working with him in various projects and even asking for advice regarding her recent breakup with dancer-choreographer Casper Smart.
The Latina star had been married thrice. She was first wed to chef Ojani Noa in 1997 for a year, then to backup dancer Chris Judd from 2001 to 2003. The “You Sang To Me” singer married former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 2000 and divorced in 2004. He has two children with the beauty queen; Christian and Ryan.
