Kim Soo Hyun showed up recently to support his friend and former co-star IU. He was seen in the audience of her small theater concert “One More Step…Just That Much More.”

He stayed for the whole concert on May 29 before leaving to film a commercial in China

He was not the only celebrity to attend the concert. Other celebs included Jo Jung Suk, the duo Akdong Musician, SHINee’s Jonghyun, ZE;A’s Kwanghee, actress Yoo In Na, 2AM’s Lim Seulong and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa.

Kim Soo Hyun and IU have been friends since they performed together in the 2011 drama “Dream High” with Suzy Bae and Ok Taecyeon.

PopSeoul interviewed Kim Soo Hyun after “Dream High” ended and asked him about the friends he made on set.

“The drama is over now, but even now we all keep in contact and stay close,” he said. “Between us we liked to say we’re family, but I really do get the feeling of family with these friends.

At the time he said that his friendship with fellow cast members helped to ease his anxiety about performing in the drama. He worried that he would be compared unfavorably to his idol co-stars as he never sang or danced before. He was in awe of their talent.

“I was worried but that useless vain worry quickly evaporated,” he said. “They all really opened up to me and we bonded and I was accepted into the group.” Still, it took him months of rehearsals before he felt comfortable performing on stage.

While the drama was filming he was asked which female co-star he liked best and he avoided having to make a choice.

“If you ask that kind of question, then in spring I like Eun Jung. In summer I like Suzy and in fall I like IU. I would answer that way.”

But then he still had to go on “Dream High” promotions and perform with all of them, so he had no desire to play favorites.

Singer-turned actress IU has also named several performers as her ideal type, although she most often names Taeyang of the band Big Bang. But, she says, she really likes him just as a fan.

IU, who was last seen in the romantic comedy, “Pretty Man,” was happy with the concert series, saying her love of music grew even deeper as a result. She was pleased to see so many friends show up for her concert.

“I realized I was receiving a lot of love from many people,” she said. “I was really happy during these concerts and they created a lot of unforgettable memories.”
