Kristen Bell was a singing host of the 2014 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday, June 4. The ‘Frozen’ star did some funny bits, including one where Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line reinacted the famous Beyonce, Jay-Z, Solange elevator fight scene.
Bell joked to reporters during a press conference in Nashville on Tuesday June 3, “In truth what I do during the show is change into a variety of fancy outfits and read a Teleprompter, so it’s not the hardest job in America. Honestly it doesn’t feel like work for me. It feels like a lot of fun. And I have a front-row seat to an amazing concert.”
The ‘Frozen’ star said she had loved country music since her moving to California, where she moved after growing up in Detroit. She added, “The majority of my group of friends in my early 20s were from the South and so a lot of them were playing country artists and I fell in love,” she said. “I think it’s the most melodic of all the genres and they are easy songs to memorize ’cause they are telling a story, and as a storyteller I gravitate toward that.”
Host Bell made fun of the now infamous Jay Z and Solange’spost-Met Gala elevator fight in the opening scene of the CMT Awards with the help of Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Watch the full video below (the elevator scene starts around 4:00)!
In the scene, Bell waits for an elevator while surveillance footage showed Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line (Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley) punching and kicking each other.
Once the elevator doors opened for the Frozen actress, the country music stars exited quickly. Bryan returned to tell Bell: “Hey! What happens in the elevator stays in the elevator.”
