Although “Happily” does not have an official music video, it will be used as the opening song of the movie. The song is included in the album “Midnight Memories” which sold 4 million copies in only five weeks. Half a million units were sold to Japan. The album’s popularity ousted previous highest seller Eminem with his “Marshal Mathers LP 2,” from the top, becoming the highest selling album of 2013.
Midnight Memories was number one in 19 countries after being released in November. The British crooners followed Adele’s record in 2012 and 2011, according to BPI.
“Say ‘I Love You'” is the popular shoujo manga by Kanae Hazuki. It was published in 2008 and currently has 12 volumes. It was made into an animated TV series in 2012.
The movie follows the love story of Mei Tachibana, a girl who never had a boyfriend in all of her 16-year-old life, and Yamato Kurosawa, the most popular boy in school. Mei accidentally injures Yamato one day, suddenly earning the latter’s attention. He declares her his friend. The couple’s evolution from friends to lovers is what fans most like about the story.
“Ouran High School Host Club’s” Haruna Kawaguchi will be taking on the role of Mei Tachibana while Yamato Kurosawa will be played by Sota Fukushi, who is known for his role as Gentaro Kisaragi in the Kamen Rider movies.
“Say ‘I Love You'” will be shown in cinemas all over Japan on July 12.
