Any “Star Wars Episode 7” update is very rare owing to the very secretive nature of the whole production, but leaked photos of the set showed what looked like the Millennium Falcon being built by the crew. Meanwhile, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and “Game of Thrones” cast Gwendoline Christie joined the cast.
The leaked photo for the “Star Wars Episode 7” published by showed the spaceship, used by Han Solo and his loyal sidekick Chewbacca, being built at an “uber-secret location in the UK.”
The entertainment news site also earlier published leaked photos of the set in Abu Dhabi, which includes an unnamed hippo-like creature that is manned by five men inside.
Filming for “Star Wars Episode 7” has already started filming in Abu Dhabi with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy calling it “an incredible place to commence this journey.”
The location prompted rumors that “Star Wars Episode 7” will try to revisit Tattooine again, according to
“Sources tell THR that the J.J. Abrams-led production is seeking to re-create the desert planet Tatooine, which was the home of Anakin and Luke Skywalker as well as the headquarters of Jabba the Hutt,” added.
Another “Star Wars Episode 7” update revolves around the casting of Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie.
Lupita Nyong’o broke the news herself in her Instagram account, saying: “I can finally say it loud and proud, I’m going to a galaxy far far away.” She also posted an image of the “Star Wars” logo.
Kathleen Kennedy also confirmed her casting, including the 6’3″ Gwendoline, who plays the knight Brienne of Tarth in “Game of Thrones.”
“[I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape,” she said.
They will join the rest of the confirmed cast like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill-who will all reprise their roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, respectively-Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Andy Serkis and Max Von Sydow.
