Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will play estranged sisters in their new comedy “The Nest.”
The ‘Baby Mama’ co-stars plays sisters who must go home to clean up their old bedroom before their parents sell the house. The sisters end up having one last wild weekend.
The SNL alums seen having good time filming scenes with co-star John Leguizamo in New York City on Monday according to the Daily Mail. Fey acted out a scene in which her character flirts with Leguizamo before making a melodramatic exit in a Chevy Malibu driven by Poehler.
Fey will produce for her Little Stranger Inc. banner alongside Jay Roach for Everyman Pictures and John Lyons, according to Deadline. while Poehler executive produces ‘The Nest’ according to The Hollywood Reporter. The comedy film is directed by Tony-nominated “Pitch Perfect” director Jason Moore from a script written by Paula Pell.
Bridesmaids star and fellow former SNL alum Maya Rudolph has also joined The Nest as a childhood friend of the sisters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Madison Davenport, of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” fame has also joined ”
” according to Variety.
Davenport will portray the daughter of Fey’s character, an artist who is angry at having to be the mother to her wild mom. Davenport also recently wrapped a lead role opposite Taryn Manning in a “A Light Beneath Their Feet.”
The cast also includes Golden Globe winner James Brolin, who will play Fey and Poehler’s characters’ dad, and ‘The Mindy Project’ star Ike Barinholtz. Barinholtz will play the next door neighbor who develops romantic feelings for Poehler’s character.
Barinholtz joked to the Chicago Tribune, “I’m going to go to every house party in Los Angeles next week for research before we start shooting. So you’ll see me on the news. I’ll be arrested.”
The Nest is scheduled to hit US theatres on December 18, 2015.
