Good news for all Sleepless In Seattle fans! Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are in talks to appear in an upcoming World War II movie. Hanks is reportedly also on board as executive producer of the film, which stars Ryan, Sam Shepard, Melanie Griffith and Ryan’s son Jack Quaid.
The film, entitled is an adaptation of the 1943 coming-of-age book The Human Comedy, by William Saroyan. Hanks will reportedly make a cameo in this film set which is set in World War II California.
Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe has confirmed that the film will be shot in Richmond, Virginia, starting in July. “We couldn’t be happier that Meg Ryan has chosen Virginia as the location for her directorial debut. We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks on this film about an important time in American history.” revolves around a 14-year-old boy named Homer Macauley, a bike messenger in San Joaquin valley, California. Macauley has been left to care for his his older sister, his 4-year old brother, and his widowed mother, because his older brother is out fighting the war. Hanks is set to play the boy’s father.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “the effects of the war are revealed as Homer delivers messages of love, friendship, pain and death, including one message that alters his own life forever.” will reunite 53-year old Ryan and 58-year old Hanks, whose notable turns in the big screen include the hugely popular 1993 film , and the 1990 rom-com They last on-screen paring was in 1998’s.
This will be another of Hanks’ upcoming films after finishing production on. His next project will be in a Steven Spielberg Cold War movie under Dream Works and 20th Century Fox.
