The messages of love, friendship, and pain from the letters he delivers will show the effects of war to people. Hanks will play as Homer’s father.
The “Castaway” actor is already closely involved with the production, serving as executing producer together with Playtone partner Gary Goetzman. His former colleague in the HBO mini-series “Band Of Brothers,” Erik Jendresen will be writing the adapted script. Ryan will be joined by a set of talented actors, such as, Sam Shepard, Melanie Griffith and Jack Quaid as well as his son, Dennis.
If this cameo pushes through, it will be the fourth film that Hanks and Ryan has appeared together in. The duo’s three collaborations has already become classics. Their first project was “Joe Versus The Volcano”(1990) which was followed three years later by the iconic “Sleepless In Seattle” and finally, “You’ve Got Mail” in 1998.
The pair has remained friends throughout the years and, according to US Weekly, was recently reunited at the opening of “Lucky Guy,” the Broadway show that Hanks appeared in.
“Ithaca” will start filming in Virginia next month, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
