Tracy Morgan accident update reveals the “30 Rock” actor remains in critical but stable condition while truck driver Kevin Roper entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment.
The actor/comedian’s condition was reported by entertainment news outlet through an official statement released by his publicist, Lewis Kay.
“Today was a better day,” Kay said through the written statement. “While Tracy remains in critical, but stable, condition, he continues to show signs of improvement.”
“His medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing. Megan remains by his side and is relaying the countless good wishes and prayers that his family, friends and fans have been sending their way,” the statement added.
Tracy Morgan’s accident happened at the New Jersey Turnpike a week ago, after Kevin Roper, a Walmart employee, failed to stop on time, causing his truck to smash on to the actor’s limo truck.
The Tracy Morgan accident left one fatality, 63-year old comedian James McNair. Four of their other companions were injured and were rushed to the nearby hospital.
The “30 Rock” actor had already undergone surgery for the broken leg he sustained from the accident. He is currently healing from his other injuries, including a broken nose, ribs and femur.
Meanwhile, Kevin Roper pleaded not guilty to the charges of vehicular homicide and assault by auto during his arraignment on Wednesday. It was also during amidst the accusations of him being sleep-deprived and being awake for 24 straight hours.
Roper was reportedly silent during his arraignment, and let his lawyer David Glassman do most of the talking.
“We enter a not guilty plea across the board obviously — the fatality and the remaining counts of assault by auto,” Glassman told the court.
Kevin Roper posted a $50,000 bail, and was released on the same night.
