UFC announced four bouts for the promotion’s Fight Night 76 event which has finally started taking shape with Josh Barnett returning to the Octagon after nearly two years.
The previously announced heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett (33-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Roy Nelson (20-11 MMA, 7-7 UFC) will headline the event. Also a middleweight clash between Gegard Mousasi (37-5-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Roan Carneiro (20-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC) was announced for the card previously.
The largest mixed martial arts promotion company also announced that Kyoji Horiguchi (15-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will make his return to action at the event, and will face an opponent who will be announced in the coming weeks. Horiguchi’s recently lost to Demetrious Johnson fight for Johnson’s flyweight championship. Horiguchi was submitted by a Johnson arm bar at the very last second, coming at the 4:59 mark of Round 5, according to records on MMA Junkie .
Also returning to the Octagon after nearly two years on the sidelines will be Josh Barnett as he takes on Roy Nelson in the UFC Fight Night 76 heavyweight main event, MMA Mania noted.
In addition, a China vs. Japan welterweight fight is also set for the event with China’s Li Jingliang (10-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) taking on Japan’s Kiichi Kunimoto (18-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
Matt Hobar (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will square off against Norifumi Yamamoto (18-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC) in a bantamweight title.
UFC Fight Night 76 is slated to take place Sept. 27 at Saitama Super Arena in Japan. Citing the time difference, the event is scheduled to air on Sept. 26 in North America. Broadcast plans are yet to be announced.
